Lily Benig is a liver health communicator and consultant bridging the gap between complex biomedical science and the patients, communities, and policymakers who need it most. With a BS in Bioengineering (Therapeutics Concentration) from the University of Illinois and an MPH in Community Health Sciences with a certificate in Social Epidemiology from Tulane, Lily brings both the hard science foundation and the population health lens that liver health work demands. She is also a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES®) and both a Governing Councillor and Vice Chair of Advocacy & Policy for the Public Health Education and Health Promotion Section of the American Public Health Association. Most recently, Lily served as Associate Director of Science and Public Health at the Global Liver Institute, where she spent nearly five years producing expert-driven reports, shaping regulatory and legislative policy priorities, developing health education resources for patients and providers, and training patient advocates on regulatory engagement. Before that, she worked as a Technical Services Engineer at Epic, supporting healthcare organizations' patient-facing technology — giving her fluency in both the clinical and health IT sides of the system.Lily is currently working in the clinic, deepening her patient care experience alongside her public health and policy background. She founded Woodchuck Health to offer that full-spectrum expertise — scientific rigor, health education, and systems thinking — to organizations doing meaningful work in liver health.
